Dr. Andreja Kutnar presented LIFE-BE-WoodEN project at the E-RIHS.si conference
Dr. Andreja Kutnar, acting department chair of the InnoRenew CoE, UP IAM, attended the E-RIHS.si (European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science) conference, held 18 – 19 November 2025, in Izola, Slovenia.
She presented the LIFE BE-WoodEN project – Buildings and Education in Wood Ecosystem for the New European Bauhaus. She introduced the project’s goals and the developed webinars with which they aim to increase the knowledge and the skills of actors of the construction sector, enhancing the use of wood in construction through the NEB approach and to contribute to the European NEB Academy implementing and testing training learning material.
Dr. Kutnar also led the tour of the InnoRenew CoE building and research laboratories, highlighting how state-of-the-art equipment is enabling them to perform research in the field of renewable materials and sustainable construction.
The LIFE-BE-WoodEN project promotes decarbonisation of buildings and strengthens circularity in the construction sector, while removing barriers that that limit the broader adoption of wood and other bio-based materials. It focuses on diverse user groups and tests innovative training approaches, including demonstrative methodologies, with a special emphasis on social housing designed to meet the needs of elderly and vulnerable people. The project aims to train professionals, support local supply chains and promote the environmental benefits of wood in construction.
